BANG! ... September ...

Share/Save/Bookmark
The month of September started with a bang for the Brachmann Racing team, but not the bang they were looking for. It was the sound of Matt Williamson into the side of the Mighty Taco car number 3 just as the green fell on the eve of the last race this season at Humberstone Speedway. Chad immediately took the car pitside for repairs and returned to the speedway in a nick of time to avoid going a lap down, but was indeed half a speedway behind the tail car to take the restart. That evening saw him finish 15th and lose the point title to Mike Bowman by just a single point. Coincidently, Bowman won the feature that evening by putting every ounce of effort he had to get to the front, and got there on the last turn before the checkered flag fell.

The banging continued the following week during the sixth lap of Brachmann's qualifying heat at the Cornwall Speedway when veteran Pierre Dagenais took exception to a pass by Brachmann for second and nearly spun him off of turn 4. Driving the Global Warranty 6 Star car for Todd Kendrick, Brachmann kept the car out of traffic and off the wall, but would finish his heat tail and be forced to start scratch for the feature. The feature started well with Chad gained 10 positions in the first 15 laps before contact with Laurent Ladacoeur in an effort to avoid a slowing car on the front stretch left both men to race the remainder of the event with less than ideal rides. Brachmann would finish 25th, and saw teammate for the evening Danny O'Brien take home the checkers and a win.

Then, there came the bang that changed it all. The sound of one of Brachmanns pit crew blowing their own right rear as they left the garage at 5am after returning from Cornwall, and the luck has officially changed hands. To quote Brachmann "there's no give backs" as the text read. That friday night, the crew decided to pass on the 358 Super Dirtcar Series and pulled into their own backyard at the Ransomville Speedway. Chad would start outside pole in his heat, go on to win his heat and eventually drove away with a feature win that evening, reinforcing the trade of luck from just 5 days earlier.

Lastly, but certainly not least, this past weekend, CB3 returned to the Little Valley Speedway with a few of his hotshoe friends, Curt and Billy VanPelt, Todd Burley and others to compete for one night only and a winners share of $2,000. Brachmann would work his way to the front and found himself one spot from the lead, behind Burley on a lap 10 restart. On the drop of the green, Burley and Brachmann would pull away from the field and continue to dodge each other side by side in the corners before Burley would eventually win the race from the corner to the start finish line and take checkers for the evening. Brachmann took home runner up honors on the evening and the two Ransomville regulars were in a class of their own on this night.

When asked about his plans for the rest of the year, Brachmann stated that Brighton Speedway would be his last stop of the 2010 season barring any last minute offers or sponsorship to help the team compete at anytime in October. We at Brachmann racing would like to thank you, our fans for your enthusiasm, help and continuous support of both our program and your local dirt tracks. Without you, we would not be here.
